It offers participants the chance to explore breathtaking landscapes, connect with local communities, and push their limits in an unforgettable cycling adventure.

The event is open to anyone with a sense of adventure! Whether you’re a seasoned cyclist or simply someone looking for a memorable challenge, the Tanzania Cycling Challenge is designed to accommodate different skill levels. While participants do need to be fit to tackle the course, the focus is on the shared experience, camaraderie, and the joy of exploration.

The Tanzania Cycling Challenge is an intense but rewarding experience, but it’s not for the faint-hearted. The route is entirely uphill, with no downhills to offer respite. It might begin flat, but the gradient gradually becomes steeper, testing your endurance and determination.

While the challenge is open to cyclists of various skill levels, it's essential to emphasise the importance of fitness. If you're an amateur cyclist, preparation is key. Training consistently, focusing on building both cardiovascular endurance and leg strength, will significantly enhance your experience and chances of completing the course.

That said, the race isn’t just about speed or competition; it’s about personal achievement, teamwork, and enjoying the breathtaking landscapes along the way. If you’re up for a physical and mental challenge, this adventure will leave you with unforgettable memories.

The Tanzania Cycling Challenge takes you on a breathtaking journey from the stunning shores of Lake Manyara to the summit of the Great Rift Valley Wall. The route is a spectacular uphill climb, offering incredible views.

Unfortunately, it won’t be possible to physically preview the route ahead of race day. However, to help you prepare, participants will receive a GPX file upon signing up. This file will include all the key information, such as elevation profiles, distances, and important waypoints, ensuring you have everything you need to mentally and physically gear up for the adventure ahead.

The route is a mix of tarmac and dirt roads, making a gravel bike or mountain bike the best option for this adventure. These types of bikes are well-suited to the varying terrain, offering the durability and stability you’ll need to tackle the uphill climb.

If you don’t have a suitable bike or prefer not to travel with one, bike rentals will be available locally. This ensures all participants have access to quality equipment tailored for the challenge. If you plan to rent, it’s a good idea to reserve your bike early to secure the right size and type for your needs.

There is a $10,000 prize pool, which will be divided between male and female participants equally.

The Tanzania Cycling Challenge is about determination and perseverance, and we want to see everyone cross the finish line! While there isn’t a strict cut off time, participants are expected to finish in 4 hours. However, our team is committed to supporting everyone – so long as it remains safe to do so, we will ensure you get the help and encouragement you need to complete the race.

This is event is as much about personal achievement as it is about winning, so don’t let the uphill route intimidate you! Make it motivate you! The focus is on finishing the challenge at your own pace while enjoying the incredible scenery along the way!

Yes, both medical and mechanical support will be available throughout the Tanzania Cycling Challenge.

Medical teams will be on hand to address any health concerns or emergencies, ensuring all participants are safe and well cared for during the race.

Mechanical support will also be provided to assist with any bike issues, so if you encounter a flat tyre, chain problem, or other mechanical challenges, help will be readily accessible. However, we do recommend having a degree of proficiency so you don’t have to wait unnecessarily for help!

Your safety and ability to complete the challenge are our top priorities!

Yes! Spectators are warmly encouraged to join us both at the start at Lake Manyara and the finish line atop the Rift Valley Wall.

Having friends, family, and supporters there to cheer participants on adds to the excitement and energy of the event. The more, the merrier – come be part of the adventure and celebrate the cyclists as they take on this incredible challenge.

We will provide transport for supporters from the start line to the finish line.
